BKGN 2024, Pepsodent, And BAZNAS Are Spreading Free Dental Education And Health Services

As part of the National Dental Health Month (BKGN) 2024 program, Pepsodent is partnering with the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) and 30 dental hospitals across Indonesia to provide education, free dental check-ups, and treatments, aiming to reach 5,000 orphans.

This collaboration also involves community support through fundraising, with one event held at the BAZNAS Cendekia School in Cibungbulang, Bogor, themed “Creating Healthy Smiles to Show Off Your Teeth.”

BKGN is an annual initiative that has been running since 2010, organized by Unilever Indonesia through the Pepsodent brand, along with the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI), the Indonesian Dental Faculty Association (AFDOKGI), and the Indonesian Educational Dental Hospital Association (ARSGMPI). The goal is to promote the importance of brushing teeth after meals and before bed, and visiting a dentist at least every six months.

Distya Tarworo Endri, Head of Marketing Oral Care and Professional Marketing at Unilever Indonesia, stated, “For over 90 years, Pepsodent has been dedicated to protecting healthy smiles in Indonesia through various educational and dental health services. Our partnerships have reached over 30 million Indonesians, including through BKGN 2024, which we launched last September.”

“As part of BKGN 2024, we have gathered community support through donations from the sales of Pepsodent Siwak and Pepsodent Habbatussauda throughout 2024, where 2.5% of the profits will be used to improve the dental health of 5,000 orphans, in collaboration with BAZNAS and 30 dental hospitals in Indonesia,” Distya added.

Today, at the event themed "Create Healthy Smiles to Boldly Show Your Teeth" at Sekolah Cendekia BAZNAS, orphaned and underprivileged children received dental education and care from experienced dentists. The event included various fun activities aimed at encouraging good dental hygiene habits for the future.

Budi Setiawan, Head of CSR Division at BAZNAS, expressed his thoughts and appreciation, stating, "The Quran has many verses about orphans, highlighting the importance of caring for them. This is reflected in the efforts of Pepsodent and its supportive consumers in providing education and services to protect their dental health.

With healthy teeth and mouths, Insha Allah, 5,000 orphans will be able to learn better and worship more sincerely. We are honored to be a trusted partner in channeling donations from the community to these children. We hope to continue this trust and become a means to draw closer to Allah SWT and His Messenger in paradise."

In relation to this, Fairuz A. Rafiq, a Celebrity Mom present at the event, commented, "Being here reminds me of my own children at home. My husband and I always teach them how to brush their teeth properly and take them for regular dental check-ups.

What about the orphans? Who will guide them? Thankfully, with Pepsodent's donation program, we can maintain our family's dental health while showing care and love for orphaned children. Alhamdulillah, the children's enthusiasm to learn about dental health today is amazing, and they are not afraid of having their teeth checked. I believe this event will provide them with valuable knowledge and benefits."
