Lombok – The dust has settled on a historic Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2025, an event that provided a massive, short-term economic injection to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), with an impact estimated at up to Rp4.8 trillion. However, a parallel initiative is designed to cultivate a slower-burning, more profound kind of growth. The proceeds from the MotoGP™ charity auction, totaling Rp72,523,800, are being strategically allocated to address two fundamental areas: improving child health and fostering community self-sufficiency.
The auction, dubbed "Driven to Give," was facilitated by KPKNL Mataram and represents a conscious effort to embed a social legacy within the high-octane world of MotoGP. The funds have been formally handed over to ITDC and MGPA, charging them with converting the capital into sustainable community programs. This represents a shift from mere corporate social responsibility to a targeted investment in the region's human and social capital.
Half of the funds (Rp36,261,900) are dedicated to accelerating stunting prevention through ITDC. Stunting, a condition impairing childhood growth and cognitive development, is a critical barrier to long-term regional prosperity. By linking a global sporting event to this national health priority, the stakeholders aim to create a positive impact that will resonate for generations, far outlasting the memory of any single race.

The other half is entrusted to MGPA to execute a Community Empowerment Program around the Mandalika circuit. This investment seeks to ensure that the economic activity generated by the event catalyzes lasting local entrepreneurship and skill development, helping communities sustainably benefit from the tourism and sports ecosystem that now exists on their doorstep.
This targeted social investment comes on the heels of the event's undeniable commercial triumph. Officials declared the 2025 edition the most successful yet, citing a 15.7% increase in attendance to over 140,000 visitors and full occupancy across Mandalika's hotels. The charity work ensures this success story has a chapter focused on equitable and inclusive development.
The initiative has been welcomed as a promising model for replication. Rully Habibie of MGPA noted the potential to expand such charity auctions into official side events for other motorsport activities throughout the year, from the Mandalika Racing Series to the Mandiri Festival of Speed. This vision points to a future where social fundraising becomes a normalized, year-round component of the destination's event portfolio.
For the local government, which worked intensively on pre-event coordination covering security, transportation, and MSME involvement, this charity outcome aligns with broader development goals. It complements the immediate economic windfall with structured programs that address systemic social challenges, contributing to a more holistic vision of progress for NTB.
In essence, the "Driven to Give" auction is a strategic endeavor to convert the transient energy of a global spectacle into enduring social dividends. It recognizes that the true value of hosting a world-class event lies not only in the revenue it generates during one weekend but in its potential to act as a catalyst for lasting improvements in health, opportunity, and community vitality.
