Jakarta – The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) convened its leadership for the first Work Meeting of the 2026 Fiscal Year on February 23-24 at its Jakarta headquarters. The high-level gathering, themed "One Vision, One Action: Strengthening Impactful Nuclear Oversight within the Framework of the Presidential Directive," was attended by key figures including Acting Chairman Zainal Arifin, Deputy for Nuclear Assessment and Safety Haendra Subekti, and the heads of various work units. The primary goal was to consolidate strategies and ensure all programs are aligned for maximum effectiveness in the coming year.
In his opening address, Acting Chairman Arifin framed the meeting as an essential exercise in strategic alignment. He underscored the need for a deep dive into the mechanics of planning, budget execution, and performance evaluation. Echoing this sentiment, Roy Candra Primarsa, Acting Head of the Bureau of Planning, Information, and Finance, elaborated on the meeting's theme, calling for a collective shift towards more intelligent, efficient, and impactful work compared to the previous year.
The agenda was structured to blend performance review with forward-looking strategy. The first day commenced with an assessment of BAPETEN's 2025 achievements and a detailed performance report. These presentations outlined the operational plans that would later be scrutinized in thematic discussions, ensuring that technical objectives were clearly defined and understood.
Day two saw a more granular approach to planning. After a presentation from the Office of the Secretary General on its strategic initiatives, participants divided into focused thematic groups. These sessions tackled strategic issues central to BAPETEN's mandate, including nuclear applications in health, energy, environment, and science and technology, as well as internal institutional strengthening. This format fostered targeted discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
A significant milestone of the meeting was the formal signing of commitment documents. Acting Chairman Arifin initiated the signing of the 2026 Performance Agreements, Annual Performance Plans, Action Plans, and Integrity Pacts. Witnessed by Deputy Haendra Subekti, this act was replicated by directors and unit heads, symbolizing a unified leadership commitment to transparency, accountability, and the achievement of stated goals.
Bringing the two-day event to a close, Acting Secretary Haendra Subekti delivered an inspiring address focused on execution and unity. "Dreams must be accompanied by action," he asserted, urging all leaders to refine their plans and work in concert to achieve their collective mission.
