Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia (GCPI) has received an award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) for its commitment and active participation in reducing waste by 30% by the end of 2029. This award was presented at the event ‘Appreciation for the Implementation of the Waste Reduction Roadmap by Producers’ in Jakarta last month, attended by around 300 partners, including representatives from KLHK and local government.
Cicin Winedar, HR Director of GCPI, expressed her pride, stating, “On behalf of GCPI, I am honored and proud to receive this award from KLHK, recognizing our commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable future. Sustainability is at the heart of Godrej Good and Green strategy, and this award motivates us to continue innovating in creating eco-friendly products and strengthening collaboration with all stakeholders for a better environment.”
GCPI is one of 20 companies recognized by KLHK as producers that have implemented and been verified in the waste reduction roadmap among over 500 producers in Indonesia. As part of its ongoing efforts, GCPI focuses on three main pillars for waste reduction:
1. Redesign – GCPI actively optimizes packaging to reduce weight or size without compromising product quality. This initiative has already contributed to a decrease in packaging waste.
2. Recycle – To manage packaging waste, GCPI collaborates with the Indonesia Packaging Recovery Organisation (IPRO), an association focused on collecting and recycling used packaging. Through this partnership, GCPI aims to enhance the capacity for collecting packaging waste and implement recycling standards that align with best practices for a circular economy in Indonesia.
3. Reuse – Through the "Godrej Kebaikan Bersama" initiative, GCPI has established a waste bank in Cicadas Village. This waste bank is expected to encourage behavioral change.
This waste bank not only serves as a place for returning packaging but also creates lasting benefits for the local community. This recognition shows GCPI's concrete steps towards sustainability by reducing waste and its commitment to ongoing innovation for a cleaner environment.
