PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) is celebrating its 18th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to support clean energy transition in Indonesia. With the theme “ElevaTHINK GREEN FUTURE, Let’s Level Up the Energy,” PGE reaffirms its commitment to continuous innovation and collaboration for a sustainable future.
In nearly two decades, PGE has successfully managed 15 Geothermal Working Areas (WKP) with a total installed capacity of 1,887.5 MW. One of its latest projects nearing completion is the development of the Lumut Balai Unit 2 geothermal power plant, which has a capacity of 55 MW and is expected to reduce emissions by 581,784 tons of CO2 equivalent annually.
Innovation is a key part of PGE's journey, including the groundbreaking Flow2Max® technology, the first of its kind in the world for measuring two-phase fluid, widely applicable in energy and industry. This innovation by Mohamad Husni Mubarok, PhD, not only enhances the performance of geothermal wells but also strengthens PGE's position in the global geothermal industry.
PGE's President Director, Julfi Hadi, stated, “We are proud to have been part of green energy development in Indonesia for nearly two decades and to lead in the geothermal industry. By adopting a new paradigm focused on innovation, business diversification, and strategic collaboration to enhance local capacity in geothermal energy development, PGE is committed to driving Indonesia's transition to clean energy,” he said during the celebration and gathering for PGE's 18th anniversary at Grha Pertamina (12/12).
In addition to focusing on clean energy development, PGE continues to promote community development through its corporate social responsibility programs.
PGE Berbagi is a new social program launched as part of the 18th anniversary celebrations. It collaborates with the PGE Islamic Charity Board and several social foundations in Jakarta and nearby areas to provide educational assistance, facility renovations, and support for children in need.
As part of the anniversary, the company management is also working with community leaders in environmental fields through the "Directors Teach" initiative. This program focuses on the theme "Green Energy to Elevate Green Future," aiming to educate students about sustainable energy resources.
With a commitment to a more sustainable future, PGE invites everyone to strengthen their commitment to transitioning to green energy. The company plans to expand its renewable energy projects and increase its installed capacity to 1.5 GW over the next five years. This effort is expected to significantly contribute to the national renewable energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
"With renewed spirit and strong commitment, PGE is ready to face future challenges and continue innovating to create cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions. PGE believes that through collaboration and innovation, a sustainable green energy future can be achieved, benefiting both society and the environment," concluded Julfi Hadi.
