The Ministry Of Industry Demands Technological Literacy, Guiding Startups To Provide Innovative Solutions

Thursday, 02 Jan 2025

The Ministry of Industry is taking proactive measures to accelerate the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by facilitating the implementation of various appropriate technologies across production, management, and marketing aspects, aimed at enhancing their capacity and productivity. This initiative aligns with the execution of programs that support startups in delivering technological solutions for the advancement of SMEs.

"SMEs have played a strategic role in driving Indonesia's economy; however, they still face challenges in technology adoption. The Startup for Industry program is designed to bridge the gap between SMEs and innovative technological solutions," stated Reni Yanita, the Director General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA), in her remarks in Jakarta on Monday, December 30.

Recently, the Director General of IKMA launched a rebranding of the Startup4Industry (S4I) program at the PIDI 4.0 Building in Jakarta. The rebranding transforms the S4I program into a comprehensive ecosystem for integrated technological solutions, now named Startup for Industry (SFI).

"This strategic move is intended to accelerate technological transformation in the industrial sector, particularly for SMEs, to enhance competitiveness and promote digital economic growth in Indonesia," Reni explained.

The rebranding of Startup for Industry also signifies a new focus for the program, which is to establish a broader collaborative network. This ecosystem is designed to facilitate collaboration in the development and implementation of integrated multidisciplinary technological solutions.

"We invite all stakeholders, including universities, research institutions, local governments, associations, and industry players, to join this ecosystem," Reni added.

Reni further emphasized that Startup for Industry plays a crucial role in supporting the growth of Indonesia's digital economy, which is projected to reach USD 90 billion by 2024. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry encourages startups to actively participate in providing technological solutions for both the government and society.
