Thursday, 24 Jul 2025

Vivo has launched two new Y-series smartphones, the Vivo Y50 5G and Vivo Y50m, in the Chinese market to boost the mid-range smartphone market. Interestingly, both phones share nearly identical specifications, including their displays.

Some of these similarities include displays with a 90Hz refresh rate, a large 6000 mAh battery, and the Dimensity 6300 chipset.

As reported by Gizmochina on Monday, both phones feature a 6.74-inch LCD with HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 20:9 aspect ratio.

A waterdrop notch completes the front of the display, and for security, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner is included. The phones run on OriginOS 5, based on Android.

As previously mentioned, both phones use MediaTek's mid-range Dimensity 6300 chipset, offering options of up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

This memory factor will ultimately differentiate the two phones. The Vivo Y50 5G comes with a smaller RAM option starting at 4GB, while the Vivo Y50m starts with a 6GB RAM option.

Regarding the camera, both the Vivo Y50 5G and Y50m offer standard camera options, with a single 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

On the battery side, the large 6000mAh battery, a prerequisite for mid-range phones, is equipped with 44W fast charging.

In terms of connectivity, the Vivo Y50 5G and Vivo Y50m both support 5G connectivity with dual-SIM and dual-band Wi-Fi.
