Tuesday, 07 Jan 2025

UT School (UTS), an educational institution under PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), is committed to enhancing the skills of Indonesia's youth through heavy equipment training. This program aims to produce skilled heavy equipment operators and support the development of food estate areas in eastern Indonesia. The opening ceremony for the training program took place at the Combat Engineer Detachment (Denzipur) 11/Mit Anim in Merauke, South Papua, on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

During the event, Captain Czi Eka Rian Novyanda, the commander of Denzipur 11/Mit Anim, praised the training initiative. He stated, "This program is excellent as it has a significant positive impact. It not only improves the welfare and education of the Papuan community but also supports the government's food security program. We believe that the collaboration between Denzipur 11/Mit Anim and UT School will create a professional, intelligent, and high-quality community in Merauke."

Similarly, Lambertus Fatruan, the Head of the South Papua Manpower and Energy and Mineral Resources Office, expressed gratitude to UT School for its role in enhancing the skills of Indigenous Papuans. "This is a clear example of UT School's contribution to educating the nation, especially the Papuan people," he said.

The training organized by UT School supports the National Strategic Program (PSN) for Increasing National Food Supply initiated by the Government of Indonesia. The government plans to open 1 million hectares of rice fields in Merauke, South Papua. The success of this program requires active participation from various sectors, including the private sector.

The Food Estate concept involves developing integrated food production areas that encompass agriculture, plantations, and livestock, aimed at improving national food security.

This program focuses not only on increasing food production but also on building infrastructure, managing natural resources sustainably, and empowering local communities to support a competitive food system.

Syaifuddin Zuhri, the Deputy Director of KIPL UT School, explained that this training program includes 10 participants from OAP who were selected from 179 applicants. "The training starts with a three-day Mental and Attitude Development (Bintaslik) at the Denzipur 11/Mit Anim Headquarters in Tanah Miring District, Merauke.

This is followed by five days of classroom training and 16 days of basic hydraulic excavator operation practice, with each participant expected to operate the heavy equipment for 10 hours. The training concludes with three months of On-the-Job Training. We hope all participants will be able to operate hydraulic excavators correctly and safely, including digging trenches for rice fields," said Syaifuddin Zuhri.

Through this program, UT School aims to make a real contribution to human resource development in Papua, support national food security, and empower local communities to actively participate in regional development.

Established in 2008, UT School aims to be the best mechanical skills and heavy equipment operator training institution in the world. By 2025, UT School plans to have 23 branches, targeting a more even distribution across Indonesia.
