The South Korean automotive company, Hyundai Motor Group, has announced a strategic collaboration with Nvidia Corp. This initiative aims to develop advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies that will support future mobility.
According to a report by Yonhap on Sunday, January 12, 2025, the partnership between the two companies was formalized in Las Vegas, United States, on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The objective is to enhance key mobility solutions, including the development of software-based vehicles, robotics, and the broader application of AI technology across various operational facets of the company.
A primary focus of the collaboration between Hyundai and Nvidia is the utilization of digital twin technology to model the construction and operation of new factories through virtual simulations.
Hyundai plans to leverage the Nvidia Omniverse platform, which is based on digital twin technology, to improve manufacturing efficiency, production quality, and reduce operational costs.
Additionally, Hyundai will integrate Nvidia's computing hardware and generative AI development tools to create a secure AI training framework capable of processing large volumes of data.
The automotive group also intends to develop AI-based robots using the Nvidia Isaac platform, as well as create the necessary simulation environments to train these robots.
"Hyundai Motor Group is continuously making breakthroughs in various fields, including robotics, autonomous vehicles, and smart factories by leveraging AI technology," stated Kim Heung-soo, Head of Global Strategy Office at Hyundai Motor Group. "Through the collaboration with Nvidia, we aim to strengthen and accelerate this innovation, positioning Hyundai as a leader in future mobility," Kim concluded.
