TikTok has officially launched a STEM feed in Indonesia, a dedicated channel that offers educational content related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
This initiative aims to facilitate users in discovering inspiring learning materials presented in an engaging manner by local creators and publishers.
Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, Head of the Human Resource Development Agency for Communication and Digital, Ministry of Communication and Digital, emphasized that this strategy is crucial for enhancing STEM literacy and cultivating digital talent in Indonesia.
"I am optimistic that the TikTok STEM feed will equip the younger generation with knowledge in science and technology, thereby increasing the nation's competitiveness and supporting the government's goal of producing 9 million digital talents by 2030," he stated during a press conference in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
With over 135 million active users in Indonesia each month, TikTok has become a platform for various educational content, including career tips, business advice, and scientific knowledge.
Educational hashtags such as #SamaSamaBelajar and #SerunyaBelajar have amassed over 24 million posts on this platform.
Angga Anugrah Putra, General Manager of Content Operations for TikTok Southeast Asia, affirmed that the education category is one of the users' favorites.
"Through the STEM feed, we aim to provide a specialized experience within the app that makes it easier for the TikTok community to find science and technology content while sharing the joy of learning on TikTok," he remarked.
The STEM feed will be automatically available to users under 18, while adult users can enable it through the Settings and Privacy menu in the TikTok app.
The rollout will occur gradually over the coming weeks.
