Samsung is reportedly preparing its most ambitious foldable phone, but unfortunately this phone has the potential not to be launched in the global market and is only marketed in China and South Korea.
Reported by Gizmochina, Tuesday (1/4), this foldable phone is known to be a double-hinged foldable phone that can be folded in two places, making this phone have a unique shape compared to foldable phones in general.
In the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) certification list, it is known that this phone is only registered in two countries. Meanwhile, its release will probably be around the end of 2025.
The latest filing in the GSMA database has revealed a mysterious Samsung device that was originally codenamed Q7M, now appears with the model number SM-F968 and there are two versions, namely SM-F9680 which is likely the Chinese variant and SM-F968N for the South Korean variant.
The absence of a model number with Samsung's typical global identifier (B, E, U, or U1), this indicates that this double-foldable phone may not be released globally after its release in the world.
According to industry sources, Samsung’s decision is likely to test the waters with an initial launch in China and South Korea first.
This is considering that its competitor Huawei has also launched its Huawei Mate XT dual-hinge smartphone in the Chinese market, and Samsung is likely trying to see how its offering stacks up against Huawei’s existing offerings.
