Gorontalo Regency once again held Car Free Day (CFD) with high enthusiasm.
The activity, which took place in the Menara Keagungan Limboto area on Sunday (8/6/2025), was attended directly by Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail and Deputy Governor Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie, accompanied by Gorontalo Regent Sofyan Puhi, and Head of the Gorontalo Provincial Health Office Anang S Otoluwa.
The presence of these regional leaders emphasized the government's commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in society.
Anang said that CFD is part of the government's strategy to get people used to physical activity and exercising regularly.
"This is a real step to make people healthier, fitter, and more productive," he said.
He emphasized the importance of physical activity as a preventive effort to reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
According to him, the government is more focused on promotive and preventive approaches, not just curative ones.
Anang appealed to the public to utilize technology to monitor fitness through the Fitness Measurement Information System (SIPGAR) application.
The application created by the Ministry of Health allows users to check their physical condition using the rockport method (walking/jogging 1.6 km).
"Use SIPGAR when exercising independently or at events such as CFD. By knowing your fitness level, training can be more effective and safe," he said.
SIPGAR provides exercise recommendations according to the user's body condition, so that people can do physical activity appropriately.
The application can be downloaded for free on the PlayStore and AppStore, supporting the Healthy Community Movement (Germas) program which continues to be intensified by the government. (mcgorontaloprov/md/ilb/nancy)
