The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Dito Ariotedjo inaugurated the Graha Padel Club, a modern sports facility located in the Graha Famili No. 9 area, Surabaya, East Java, Saturday (14/6). The inauguration was marked by the cutting of a ribbon and the signing of an inscription by Menpora Dito.
Graha Padel Club presents four premium padel courts, designed with a focus on the comfort and safety of the players. This facility is also equipped with a cafe, main toilet, and a children's play area.
"I really appreciate what Mr. Tjokro Saputrajaya has built. This is not just a sports venue, but a space for young people to gather, network, and live healthily. Mentorship and communities like this are really needed by the government," said Menpora Dito in his speech.
As Menpora, he sees the opening of this field as a strategic step in popularizing sports. Padel, with its fun and competitive character, can be a means to encourage a healthy lifestyle among the community, especially the younger generation.
"We want sports to no longer be just a physical activity, but also become part of the daily culture that strengthens togetherness and fosters a spirit of sportsmanship," he said.
According to Minister of Youth and Sports Dito, padel has now become a social sport that is popular with many people, including those who previously enjoyed playing golf. This trend has developed in big cities such as Jakarta, Bali, and Medan and is now spreading to Surabaya.
"I consider the Graha Padel Club to be one of the best padel facilities in Indonesia. In fact, its standards are approaching clubs like Reserve Padel in America," he added.
What makes the Graha Padel Club different is that the background of this sports project was initiated, designed, and run directly by the Young Generation of the Xianyou Citizens Association. This is a real symbol of how the Chinese Indonesian community is actively promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle in the country.
"As the Chairperson of the Young Generation of the Xianyou Citizens Association, I want to provide space for the young generation to develop and make real contributions. "Graha Padel Club is the first step," said Tjokro Saputrajaya, the owner and figure behind the birth of this facility.
"In the future, Graha Padel Club plans to add up to 10 fields, including one main field with international standard stands ready to host various national and international tournaments," he concluded.
