The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) advises residents to adopt a healthy lifestyle after finding out that they have received a quota to perform the pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
This has become a concern for the Ministry of Health because of the high death rate of hajj pilgrims that often occurs every year. Until the 45th day of the 2025 hajj pilgrimage, 298 people have died (based on data from the integrated hajj computerized health system or siskohatkes).
"When someone has received a hajj quota, they automatically become a hajj pilgrim. Therefore, pilgrims who have received a hajj portion number must prepare themselves well in advance by adopting a healthy lifestyle, exercising regularly, eating nutritious food, and getting enough rest," said the Head of the Ministry of Health's Hajj Health Center Liliek Marhaendro Susilo in an official statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/17/2025).
Liliek also emphasized that the long series of hajj pilgrimages requires physical and mental strength. With Indonesia's different geographical conditions, the journey usually takes hours, even days from home to embarkation.
"Not to mention the nine-hour flight to Saudi Arabia. It can be said that the Hajj is truly a form of worship that demands physical strength," he said.
