PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, commonly known as BRI, has announced its support for the government's strategic programs by acting as a distributor of wage subsidy assistance (BSU) this year.
Agustya Hendy Bernadi, the Corporate Secretary of BRI, stated that the bank's role in distributing BSU is part of the company's commitment to consistently be present and provide tangible benefits to the community.
"Through government programs that prioritize the people, BRI will continue to commit to strengthening its role as a development agent that consistently offers accessible, secure financial services that have a direct impact on the wider community," Hendy remarked in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
As a bank with an extensive service network, BRI ensures ease of access for all BSU recipients through various channels.
Beneficiaries can withdraw assistance funds via BRI ATMs, the BRImo application, CRM/EDC machines, and over 1.19 million AgenBRILink agents spread across the country.
According to the company, the presence of the super app BRImo, e-channels, and AgenBRILink within the community makes the fund disbursement process easier, faster, and more inclusive, even in areas not served by branch offices.
Previously, in 2020 and 2022, BRI undertook a similar mandate.
At that time, the BSU program was launched by the government as part of efforts to maintain purchasing power and support national economic stability amid the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020, BRI distributed BSU to approximately 1.4 million workers as beneficiaries.
Subsequently, in 2022, BRI resumed this assignment with a broader scope, providing assistance to 3.2 million workers with a total value reaching Rp1.92 trillion.
The entire distribution process was carried out in an integrated manner and based on data from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker).
This year, BRI has once again been entrusted as the bank to distribute BSU.
This assistance has been reintroduced by the government as one of the measures to strengthen national economic stimulus.
According to data from the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), the government is providing BSU amounting to Rp300,000 per month to 17.3 million workers earning less than Rp3.5 million per month or below the provincial/district/city minimum wage.
This facility is also extended to 288,000 honorary teachers at the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikdasmen) and 277,000 honorary teachers at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag).
Furthermore, the wage subsidy assistance will be disbursed simultaneously in June 2025 with a budget sourced from the state budget (APBN) amounting to Rp10.72 trillion.
Referring to the Minister of Manpower Regulation (Permenaker) No. 5 of 2025, recipients of the BSU must meet several criteria, including being Indonesian citizens with a National Identity Number (NIK), active participants in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan until April 2025, earning a maximum salary of Rp3.5 million per month, and not being civil servants, members of the military, or police officers. Additionally, they must not be receiving other social assistance such as the Family Hope Program (PKH) at the time of distribution.
