The YouGov Indonesia survey stated that Generation Z allocates more spending on lifestyle categories such as beauty (21 percent) and fashion (20 percent). The YouGov survey was conducted online on April 17-21, 2025, with 2,067 adult respondents over 18 years old.
Data was processed based on demographics such as age, gender, socio-economic level, and region to represent the national population according to the latest projections from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
YouGov Indonesia General Manager Edward Hutasoit said that the millennial generation and Generation X+ recorded an increase in spending on household needs such as groceries and electricity.
When viewed in general, respondents showed the largest decrease in spending allocation in the fashion group (18 percent), eating out (17 percent), entertainment (14 percent), and food delivery (11 percent). Differences are also seen in savings strategies. Gen Z cuts spending more in basic categories such as health services (7 percent) and shopping for basic necessities (6 percent).
