The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Budi Santoso stated that the output resulting from the deregulation of import policies has led to the issuance of nine new Ministerial Regulations (Permendag).
"Thus, the output of this deregulation of import policies is the amendment of Permendag or the revocation of Permendag Number 36 of 2023 junto Permendag Number 8 of 2024. We have revoked it and are now issuing nine Permendag," Budi remarked in Jakarta on Monday.
Budi elaborated that these new regulations are categorized into clusters to facilitate any future changes.
He noted that Permendag is dynamic, and the government must swiftly adapt to changes.
The nine new Permendag consist of Permendag Number 16/2025 concerning Import Policy and Regulation, which outlines general provisions.
From this Permendag, the regulations are further divided into clusters, namely Permendag Number 17/2025 regarding Import Policy and Regulation for Textiles and Textile Products;
Permendag Number 18/2025 concerning Import Policy and Regulation for Agricultural and Livestock Products;
Permendag Number 19/2025 regarding Import Policy and Regulation for Salt and Fishery Commodities;
And Permendag Number 20/2025 concerning Import Policy and Regulation for Chemicals, Hazardous Materials, and Mining Materials.
Furthermore, Permendag Number 21/2025 addresses Import Policy and Regulation for Electronic Goods and Telematics;
Regulation Number 22/2025 concerning Policies and Regulations on the Import of Certain Industrial Goods;
Regulation Number 23/2025 concerning Policies and Regulations on the Import of Consumer Goods;
As well as Regulation Number 24/2025 concerning Policies and Regulations on the Import of Used Goods and Non-Hazardous and Toxic Waste.
"Thus, this is organized by cluster to facilitate any future changes. Furthermore, the aforementioned import regulations will be effective for two months from the date of promulgation, as we need to prepare for the system and other related matters," he stated.
Additionally, the regulatory output aimed at facilitating business operations includes two regulations: Regulation 25/2025, which replaces the previous regulation regarding the procedures and issuance of franchise registration certificates by local governments.
The second regulation is the issuance of Regulation Number 26/2025 concerning the revocation of four previous regulations in the field of domestic trade that were already governed by higher regulatory substance.
