Morning walking can be an option to increase fitness and help lose weight.
Fitness and nutrition experts recommend doing a different walking method, namely pyramid walking, where the walking speed increases in a certain pattern.
Written by the Hindustan Times page, Saturday (5/7), pyramid walking begins with a slow walk, then gradually increases the speed to a fast pace or fast walk. After reaching peak intensity, slowly reduce the speed back to the initial speed. This walking style can take 20-25 minutes.
"This method is great for improving overall fitness, burning calories, and keeping your daily walk interesting. It is easy to follow and can be done almost anywhere, making it a great option for people with all fitness levels," suggests fitness and nutrition expert Mitushi Ajmera
This change in speed keeps many muscles active and helps the body work harder, especially the legs, core, and buttocks. This exercise also increases the heart rate gradually, burning more calories, and increasing endurance over time.
Walking at a gradual pace that is gentle on the joints is safe for most age groups and requires no equipment.
To try pyramid walking, start by warming up for 5 minutes with light movements such as shoulder rolls, arm swings and ankle rolls, leg swings or calf raises.
These simple movements help loosen up the muscles and prepare the body for walking, reducing the risk of injury.
"Start walking at a moderate pace for 2 minutes. Then, every 2 minutes, increase the speed slightly until you are walking at a fast, powerful pace. After that, start slowing down every 2 minutes until you are back to your original pace," explains Mitushi.
