The number of domestic tourist movements in Indonesia reached 839.39 million trips by October 2024. According to an official report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) on December 2, 2024, "The number of domestic trips from January to October 2024 increased by 21.87 percent compared to the same period in 2023." In October 2024 alone, domestic tourist movements totaled 81.42 million trips, reflecting a 29.88 percent increase compared to the same month the previous year.
However, this figure represents a decline of 2.32 percent compared to September 2024. The five provinces that attracted the most domestic travelers in October 2024 were predominantly located on Java Island, including East Java (20.10 percent), West Java (16.87 percent), Central Java (13.90 percent), Jakarta (10.52 percent), and Banten (4.72 percent).
Conversely, the number of Indonesian nationals traveling abroad in October 2024 was recorded at 731,006 trips. From January to October 2024, a total of 7.38 million Indonesian tourists traveled overseas. "The number of international trips from January to October 2024 increased by 19.48 percent compared to the same cumulative period last year," it was stated.
The top five destinations for Indonesian travelers in October 2024 were Malaysia (216,050 trips), Saudi Arabia (116,310 trips), Singapore (100,850 trips), China (43,700 trips), and Thailand (35,070 trips).
