President Prabowo Subianto received a report from Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on the accountability of the 2024 State Budget (APBN), currently being deliberated by the House of Representatives (DPR), the 2025 fiscal outlook, and the preparation of the 2026 Draft State Budget (RAPBN).
In a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening (July 22nd), Sri Mulyani also reported on the performance of the 2025 APBN, particularly regarding the use of state funds for the implementation of several government programs.
"First, regarding the draft law on the reporting and implementation of the 2024 APBN, which is currently being discussed with the Budget Agency, and God willing, it will align with the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) audit, which found that the central government's financial report is unqualified (WTP)," Sri Mulyani said during a press conference at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, following a meeting with President Prabowo.
In her report, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani stated that the 2025 state budget deficit is estimated to reach 2.78 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This projection, Sri Mulyani stated, reflects the balance between potential revenue and state spending needs.
"I also reported to the President regarding the discussions in the House of Representatives (DPR) regarding the 2025 State Budget, particularly the discussions following the semester reports, in which the progress of several government programs was carefully reviewed," said Sri Mulyani
Sri Mulyani also reported on preparations for the preparation of the Financial Note and the 2026 Draft State Budget, which President Prabowo plans to officially submit to the DPR on August 15, 2025.
Sri Mulyani explained that the draft state budget accommodates the president's priority programs, including free nutritious meals (MBG), public schools (SR), the Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperatives, and various programs supporting food security.
"And also other very important government programs, such as education, especially those carried out by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Dikdasmen), improvements to Islamic schools, improvements to digital schools, and also from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisintek)," Sri Mulyani continued.
In the same meeting, the President also provided directives to his ministers, including Sri Mulyani. The President reiterated the importance of deregulation and targeted spending.
"The President's directives are very comprehensive. Reforms on the state revenue side will continue to be implemented so that we can obtain adequate state revenue. Spending will be focused on important programs," said Sri Mulyani, who was accompanied at the press conference by her two deputy ministers, Suahasil Nazara and Thomas Djiwandono. The limited meeting to discuss the State Budget took place after President Prabowo led a limited meeting to discuss the optimization of Special Economic Zones (SEZs). In the limited meeting regarding the State Budget, the ministers who were present were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
