3 Messages From Prabowo At The Historic Moment Of The Inauguration Of 931 Regional Heads

A historic moment has just happened. A total of 931 regional heads who won the 2024 Pilkada were inaugurated simultaneously. The inauguration was held in the central courtyard of the Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta, Thursday (20/1/2025). The number of regional heads inaugurated was 961, consisting of 33 governors and 33 deputy governors, 363 regents, 362 deputy regents, 85 mayors, and 85 deputy mayors. President Prabowo Subianto read out the Presidential Decree regarding the inauguration of the governors-deputy governors and the reading of the decision of the Minister of Home Affairs regarding the ratification of the regents-deputy regents and mayors-deputy mayors. "Are you willing to take an oath according to your respective religions?" said Prabowo. "Yes," said the regional heads. Prabowo then led the swearing-in of the regional heads. The following is the oath of office spoken by the regional heads: 

"I swear/promise to fulfill my obligations as governor, as deputy governor, as regent, as deputy regent, as mayor, as deputy mayor as best and as fairly as possible, uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and implement all laws and regulations as honestly as possible and serve the community, nation, and country," the oath reads. Prabowo also conveyed a message to the regional heads. The following is his message: 

Servants of the People 

Prabowo said that the simultaneous inauguration also illustrates the greatness of the Indonesian nation. Indonesia, said Prabowo, has a dynamic and well-functioning democracy. The regional heads standing before Prabowo came from different parties. According to Prabowo, the 961 regional heads had campaigned in a way that was not easy, namely going down to the community and asking for the people's trust. Prabowo emphasized that the regional heads were servants of the people. "Brothers and sisters, I would like to remind you on behalf of the Indonesian nation, that you were elected, you are servants of the people," he added. 

Defending the People's Interests 

The regional heads who have just been inaugurated have diverse backgrounds. But, said Prabowo, they were born into a large Nusantara family. Prabowo reminded us of the meaning of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Which means 'we are different but we are one'. As the number one person in the region, Prabowo explained, regional heads must always be on the side of the people. "You are servants of the people, you must defend the interests of the people, you must protect the interests of our people, you must fight for the improvement of their lives, that is our duty," he said. 

Strong in Undergoing Retreat 

After this inauguration, the regional heads will undergo a week-long retreat. This retreat will be held in Magelang. "I don't think I will be long because we will meet at the retreat that will be held by the Minister of Home Affairs in Magelang," he said. He then joked that he hoped the regional heads would be strong in attending the retreat. However, it is not yet known what activities the regional heads will undergo during the retreat. "I will meet you there and hopefully you will be strong and trained. Those who are hesitant may withdraw," said Prabowo, which was greeted by laughter from the regional heads.
