Prabowo States That China Has Become Indonesia's Largest Trading Partner, Valued At Rp 2,100 Trillion Annually

President Prabowo Subianto has identified China as Indonesia's largest trading partner at present. According to Prabowo, the trade value between the two nations exceeds 130 billion US dollars, equivalent to 2.1 quadrillion rupiah (at an exchange rate of 16,200 rupiah) annually. This statement was made by Prabowo during the Indonesia-China Business Reception 2025 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta on Saturday evening, May 24, 2025. The event was also attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, who arrived in Jakarta on Saturday afternoon. "Currently, China is our largest trading partner. Our trade has surpassed 130 billion US dollars each year," Prabowo stated in a broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel on Sunday, May 25, 2025. "We view China as a crucial partner in the development of our industry and technology. Chinese companies have undertaken significant projects that have been highly successful," he elaborated. 

Prabowo cited the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail project, industrial zones, nickel downstreaming, and various technology projects established by Chinese firms as examples. He noted that trade relations, investment, and technological collaboration reflect the commitment of both countries to build a strong, prosperous, and environmentally friendly future. "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Chinese companies that have participated in our economy, creating jobs, facilitating technology transfer, and building trust among all businesses, especially in our homeland," Prabowo remarked. "I have met with many figures from the Chinese business community. I see their commitment, and I see their willingness to adapt to the circumstances and conditions in Indonesia," he added. The President praised the openness of Chinese entrepreneurs who are willing to listen to various challenges in Indonesia's industrial sector. "They are very open to hearing our difficulties and interests. Once again, thank you," Prabowo concluded.
