President Prabowo Subianto Becomes PSSI Honorary Council Member

President Prabowo Subianto was appointed as the PSSI Honorary Council. This was one of the decisions of the PSSI Ordinary Congress which took place in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. 

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir stated that Prabowo accepted the position of PSSI Honorary Council. The decision has been approved by members of the ordinary congress which took place today. 

Erick said that Prabowo accepted as an honorary council. "So far, we have always had thoughts that are not in sync with the government at PSSI. It's time to be in line so that there is no more intervention or egotism from us PSSI," said Erick in a press conference after the PSSI Ordinary Congress, as quoted from a release distributed by the PSSI media team. 

Erick added that PSSI as a federation needs government funds, when the Indonesian National Team is good we say it's because of PSSI. We forget that the government also contributes. Now with us walking hand in hand, there is the President, the PSSI General Chair, FIFA, AFC, carrying out comprehensive consolidation. 

The PSSI General Chairman added that Indonesia is in Asia, not in Europe where everything is independent. "It doesn't work here. If the government and PSSI work together, God willing, we can minimize the issues of government intervention. Building football is impossible for PSSI alone," said the former President of Inter Milan.
