The Indonesian government has allocated IDR 277 billion from the 2025 State Budget (APBN) to support the development of football in the country. The main focus of this fund allocation is the preparation of the Indonesian National Team (Timnas) for the 2026 World Cup Qualification. Information regarding the budget was conveyed by the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) via the official Instagram account @ditjenpajakri on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
In the announcement, it was explained that the funds would be used for various strategic programs, including training for the senior National Team and youth age groups, and activities related to the national football association. DJP emphasized that tax contributions from the community play an important role in supporting the achievements of the National Team, which are expected to make Indonesia's name famous on the world stage. In the statement, it was stated that this support is not only temporary, but is expected to be part of long-term development efforts for national football, starting from early childhood development to achieving achievements at the international level.
The DJP also emphasized that this step is a form of government commitment to advance Indonesian football, with the hope that the National Team can appear in the 2025 World Cup. If calculated, the allocation of IDR 277 billion is equivalent to around 16.79 million US dollars, based on an exchange rate of IDR 16,500 per US dollar. This shows the government's seriousness in supporting the sports sector, especially football which has high appeal among the Indonesian people.
On the other hand, the government emphasized that the budget efficiency implemented this year will be continued until 2026. The implementation of efficiency that has been carried out is one of the considerations in compiling the 2026 State Budget ceiling. "Of course it will be implemented, that's clear. If asked, my answer is yes, it will be done," said Sri Mulyani after attending the 18th Plenary Meeting of the Indonesian House of Representatives for Session Period III of the 2024-2025 Session Year at the Indonesian House of Representatives Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
