Prabowo Still Confident That Indonesian Economy Will Reach 7% By The End Of This Year

Tuesday, 24 Jun 2025

President Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia's economic growth this year will be strong. From the predictions he claimed to have obtained from economic experts, the Indonesian economy at the end of 2025 will grow to reach 7%.

Meanwhile, in the middle of this year, the Indonesian economy will grow again to the level of 5% for one semester. Whereas in the previous first quarter, Indonesia's economic growth slowed to only 4.87%

"My experts told me that in the first semester, our economic growth is more than 5%. In fact, by the end of this year, our economic growth could reach almost 7% or even more," Prabowo explained while giving a speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025, Friday local time.

According to him, this improving economic prediction proves that Indonesia's journey has entered the right track. An economic increase of 8% could be realized in the next few years.

"So, this shows that we have chosen the right path, and we are achieving our goals. I am very confident that we will achieve our goals in a few years," Prabowo explained.

Speaking on stage with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prabowo explained that Indonesia is targeting food self-sufficiency in the next 4 years, but according to him, the target can be met this year.

The proof, said Prabowo, is that Indonesia has rice and corn production with a 50% increase. In fact, the current rice supply has reached 4.4 million tons or the largest in history. Prabowo also targets Indonesia not only to be self-sufficient but also to become an exporter of rice and corn.

"I have targeted food self-sufficiency for 4 years. We have experienced that we can be self-sufficient in food in 1 year, and in a few years we will become exporters of rice and corn," said Prabowo.
